AS9100 undergoing another amendment
In order to stay compliant with ISO 9001 (the quality management system standard upon which AS9100 is based and is due for an upgrade in September 2015), the aerospace standard AS9100 is also being revised. In addition to the changes dictated by ISO 9001:2015, the revision aims to increase the ease of use and add clarity, as well as addressing the needs of stakeholders and the
industries. The intent of the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG) is to have AS9100 Rev. D issued within three months of the official release of the next revision of ISO 9001. ISO9001:2015 is in draft review and is currently projected to be issued in September 2015. AS9100 Revision D is expected to be finalized in December 2015.
Meeting Industry Specific Requirements for Aerospace
When it comes to suppliers to the Aerospace industry, industry-specific requirements need to be met and often includes providing third-party certification to demonstrate Quality Management System (QMS) conformity.
TÜV SÜD can help you gain the internationally recognized series of quality system standards specific to the aerospace industry: AS/EN9100.
The AS/EN9100 series is strongly supported and adhered to by major aerospace manufacturers.
Based on ISO 9001:2008, it places particular emphasis on quality, safety, and technology. All areas of the industry and the supply chain are included.
By becoming AS9100 compliant/certified, suppliers can gain a competitive advantage and benefit from the improved processes and continual improvement that is the foundation of ISO 9001:2008 certified Quality Management Systems.
