Training to perform elevator inspections required by state and local codes
Most state and local jurisdictions impose stringent safety requirements on elevators, escalators, moving walkways and other conveyances. To verify compliance with these requirements, inspections by a qualified technician are typically required prior to a new elevator being placed into service, and follow-up inspections of in-service elevators are usually conducted annually or semi-annually. These inspections help to ensure the integrity of elevator installations and the ongoing safety of their operation.
TÜV SÜD America, Chemical, Oil and Gas provides a comprehensive training program for elevator inspectors. Based on the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Standard 17.1, “Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators,” and ASME Standard 17.2, “Guide for the Inspection of Elevators, Escalators and Moving Walks,” our training program presents the fundamentals of safe elevator design and operation and discusses techniques and concepts applicable to elevator inspections.
TÜV SÜD’s elevator inspection training program is taught by TÜV SÜD instructors and other industry experts. Scheduled training programs are conducted throughout the year in Houston, TX and at other locations. In-house and customized training for groups of 10 or more are also available.
