Peabody, MA TÜV SÜD, one of the world's leading providers of testing, auditing, inspection and certification and training services, is pleased to announce the acquisition of the assets of Walshire Labs, LLC.(Walshire) along with Product Safety Engineering, Inc.(PSE). In combining the existing TÜV SÜD Tampa lab with two best-in class regional partner labs, customers in central Florida and the Southeastern US will enjoy access to a 12,000 sq/ft facility for Global testing and certification services.
Existing customers of Walshire and PSE will see a seamless transition and continued support as new service offerings become more readily available via this integration. As TÜV SÜD continues to expand radio approval proficiency in North America, the addition of two market leaders in that field made the acquisitions a smart expansion on the East coast.
“Having fostered complimentary strategic partnerships with both Walshire and PSE over the past decade, merging our three labs into a single state-of-the-art facility seemed a natural next step in serving the local, regional and international customer base,” explains Doug Hughes, TÜV SÜD Director of Sales and Development.
TÜV SÜD will continue to support product developers from initial prototype stages to commercial launch, providing safety, emissions, immunity and radio testing for Global compliance. From testing to certification the group will offer regulatory solutions for every stage of product rollout. The new facility will be located at 5610 West Sligh Ave. Tampa, FL 33634.
Walshire Labs, LLC was founded in 2008 by Peter J. Walsh, CEO and NARTE Certified Engineer. Mr. Walsh previously managed the lab when it was owned by other companies primarily serving their internal customers. He has over thirty years of experience in the field of regulatory compliance. The Walshire lab in Largo, FL has vast experience in safety and EMC, but is best known for expertise in radio and telecom, a key growth area for TÜV SÜD.
“The goal of Walshire Labs has always been to provide quality testing and certification solutions that meet or exceed our customer’s expectations. This is achieved through management leadership, compliance to quality requirements, and overall excellence in execution” explains Peter Walsh. “We are excited to join the team at TÜV SÜD that also sees leadership and customer service as essential to growth.”
Product Safety Engineering, Inc. is owned by partners Herb Watkins and Dale Burns, both possessing more than 30 years experience in the compliance industry. The PSE staff of seven includes NARTE certified personnel offering safety, emissions, immunity, telecom, radio and mitigation testing services. The entire PSE staff is excited about the move and new opportunities to excel.
“We were thrilled to finalize this acquisition of assets and ensure the talented team at PSE will continue to lead the regulatory compliance test industry in the Southeast as part of TÜV SÜD” expounds Dale Burns, President of PSE.
"For years PSE has relied on TÜV SÜD’s broad scope and strong reputation as a global certification body which helped our two organizations to cultivate operational synergies.” clarifies Herb Watkins, VP of PSE “We are excited to take the next step in forming an extraordinary team in North Tampa.”
Walshire and PSE are both ISO-17025 accredited labs with ambient-free chambers, state-of-the-art test equipment and customized test systems able to serve IT, Laboratory, Medical, commercial and industrial customers. The new facility will centralize the equipment and talent needed for a one-stop solution. As a laboratory for the NRTL and IECEE CB Scheme programs, the new Tampa TÜV SÜD facility will not only serve customers in need of US and Canadian approvals but also facilitate the next step into Global Market Access.
“Easy access to local facilities, prompt scheduling and top-notch engineering staff have all been part of our successful growth strategy,” added Doug Hughes. “This expansion in Florida further supports our mission to strengthen the competitiveness of our customers globally and do our part in making the world a safer place through the optimization of technology, systems and experts.”
