Compliance approval ensures that all products are correctly qualified and allows the Bluetooth® trademark to be applied. If a client has device compatibility concerns, TÜV SÜD can also offer an extended service to enhance the scope of interoperability testing through device-to-device test plans.

To become a Bluetooth Qualification Consultant McLear had to satisfy all program requirements, including passing an exam designed to assess his understanding of the Bluetooth Qualification Process.
The TÜV SÜD service includes:
- Provide compliance testing to the specified functional requirements of Bluetooth® Host Parts and specifications that reside above the Host Controller Interface (HCI).
- Support Bluetooth® testing services such as profile conformance, debugging faults and interoperatbility testing – excluding RF and protocol stack testing.
- Provide Bluetooth® SIG industry certification consultancy services including qualification and declaration processes.
The Bluetooth® SIG ensures that products comply with the Bluetooth® license agreements, to promote product interoperability and ensure stability of the Bluetooth® brand. Enabled products are also subject to radio, EMC and safety conformance requirements, such as the Radio Equipment Directive in the European Union, and FCC Certification in the United States. TÜV SÜD can provide a holistic solution for the full range of related test and certification requirements.

The Bluetooth® SIG trademark license agreement states that any member who intends to sell, brand, or rebrand with the Bluetooth® word or logo must complete the Bluetooth® SIG declaration process and adhere to the brand guidelines. The patent and copyright license agreement states that any member who intends to use compliant Bluetooth® enabled technology in their product should complete the declaration process. The Bluetooth® SIG have enforcement processes to ensure that Bluetooth branded products are qualified correctly in accordance with the SIG’s qualification program.
