Munich / Nuremberg. Industrial automation is making the world grow smaller – and more interconnected. TÜV SÜD supports the manufacturers of systems and components, helping them to meet the requirements of international markets. Testing and certification in non-European markets form the focus topic at TÜV SÜD's stand at this year's SPS IPC Drives. The CB Scheme, also offered by TÜV SÜD, opens the door to all important certification marks worldwide. The SPS IPC Drives trade fair will take place in Nuremberg from 25 to 27 November 2014. TÜV SÜD can be found in Hall 4, Stand 521.
TÜV SÜD supports companies providing testing and certification, also spanning non-European markets including the USA, Canada, the Russian Federation, China and South Korea. "The CB Scheme facilitates global market access for the manufacturers of electric and electronic equipment. TÜV SÜD's registration services for the North American market pave the way for smooth exports, particularly to the USA and Canada", explains Gerd Reichert, TÜV SÜD Product Service GmbH. TÜV SÜD's experts also support manufacturers by offering services such as testing for the new Low Voltage Directive and the ATEX and Machinery Directive, EMC tests and environmental tests. The topic of smart grids is likewise becoming increasingly important. Intelligent control devices are necessary to integrate the large number of new and distributed energy producers successfully into the grid. TÜV SÜD also addresses these new challenges for standardisation, enabling technological solutions to be designed for smart grids. In this context, significant roles are played by the IEC 61850 and IEC 62439-3 standards for data communication and PRP/HSR high-availability automation networks respectively.
IT safety & security with TÜV SÜD
Functional safety and industrial IT security will be further topics of interest at the TÜV SÜD stand. The service portfolio ranges from independent assessment of safety aspects to certification, consulting and training services and is complemented by security checks, risk assessments, penetration tests and the development of a Security Manual for embedded devices and systems. This places TÜV SÜD among only a handful of technical services organisations that support manufacturers and operators throughout the world, enabling them to consider critical, safety-relevant IT security aspects comprehensively and at an early stage in new developments, identify risks and prevent hazards caused by unauthorised access to systems. TÜV SÜD has been accredited for all standards relevant for functional safety and industrial IT security – IEC 62443, IEC 61508, IEC 62061 and EN ISO 13849-1 – and is a Notified Body for the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, Annex 4, Safety Components.
Accessing international markets with reduced risks
TÜV SÜD maintains a global network of experts and laboratories and can thus offer the manufacturers of systems and components an efficient infrastructure for accessing national and regional markets. All the required tests and certifications are carried out on site by the local TÜV SÜD subsidiary. By ensuring compliance with the safety and security standards and providing comprehensive documentation, manufacturers and operators can reduce the risk of accidents and their associated liability.
