As an internationally recognized certification and testing organization, TÜV SÜD takes great pride in its laboratories across the country. It's crucial that these facilities maintain the highest possible performance standards to ensure they deliver the results clients depend on. These high lab expectations apply to the equipment - to be sure, TÜV SÜD makes every effort to use the best available technology - but also to the management. It's important these labs seek out and capitalize on any areas that can be improved upon.
With that in mind, we've revamped our Light Testing Laboratory management. Our goal is to leverage this broad change to make sure our lab runs efficiently, determines ideal solutions for clients and practices the organization and skill our partners expect.
Lighting Lab capabilities
It's no surprise our lab management has to be on point - these facilities have a bevy of equipment, processes, techniques, standards and guidelines to maintain. Not only that, but our testing labs are Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Certification Body Testing Laboratories under the IECEE CB Scheme, and National Certification Bodies. Those distinctions call for a high level of professionalism and service.
In particular, the Lighting Lab must test products and technology under EPA, ENERGY STAR, and U.S. Department of Energy regulations. Lighting products tested in those categories are held to a high standard for both safety and efficiency.
Additionally, our Lighting Labs are located throughout North America, Europe and Asia. Organizations can leverage our services in any location as a one-stop shop for any combination of the aforementioned services, as well as:
DesignLightsTM Consortium (DLC)
Photometrics and IES files
IEC 60529 IPXX testing
NRCan and EEV in Canada
Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)
Training seminars and webinars
A commitment to excellence
With so many responsibilities to balance, there is no room for our testing labs to lag in efficiency or performance. We're confident that the new Lighting Lab, now headed up by operations manager Bryan Cubitt, will succeed in providing our clients with consistent, quality testing services. As Operations Manager for Energy Efficiency testing services at TÜV SÜD America’s “Energy Efficiency Centre of Excellence” located near Atlanta, GA Bryan brings over 10 years experience in testing, review and certification of Energy Systems. He serves on various Technical Sub-Committees (TSC) and Standards Development agencies in the Lighting and Energy sectors.
Filling another key role in the organization, Joni Law is the Sr. Product Safety Engineer for Lighting Safety testing services at TÜV SÜD America, with more than seven years of experience in testing and certification. She serves on the Standards Technical Panel for Luminaires - UL 1598, UL 1598A, UL 1598B, and UL 1574 Track Lighting Systems and is a member of IEEE. We hope that all members of the demanding lighting industry will welcome our new team and challenges them with your urgent projects.
The TÜV SÜD brand has come to be a respected sign of product excellence all over the world. We would be remiss if we didn't hold ourselves to that high mark. As with any product or industry, standards continually move forward and grow stricter. By shining that critical light on our own lab, we've managed to take a step forward and improve our already dependable process.
